No scanner? Photograph the print with your phone

Most old photos live in albums and frames, not on a hard drive, and most people do not own a scanner. A phone photo taken in daylight is enough. NNC Restore detects the photograph inside your picture, crops it, straightens the perspective and then restores it: damage repaired, colour returned, the face unchanged. About two minutes, $5 for one photo.

Five rules for a good phone capture

  • Daylight, no flash: put the print near a window, out of direct sun, so there is no glare or hot spot.
  • Flat and straight above: lay the print on a plain dark surface and hold the phone parallel to it.
  • Fill the frame, leave a margin: the whole print visible with a little background around it, so the auto-crop finds the edges.
  • Out of the frame if you can: glass adds reflections. If you cannot remove it, angle away from windows and lamps.
  • Highest quality setting, no filters: turn off HDR effects and beauty modes; we do the enhancement.
  • Tap to focus on a face, hold still, take two: pick the sharper one.

Three steps, no scanner needed

  1. 1

    Take the photo

Daylight, flat, straight above, whole print in frame. Two shots, keep the sharper.

  2. 2

    Upload it

Restore finds the photograph inside your picture, crops it and fixes the perspective. You can adjust the corners by hand before anything is charged.

  3. 3

    Restore and download

Damage repaired, colour returned, faces unchanged. About two minutes, no watermark, 2K on every plan and 4K on Pro, Ultimate and the Memorial pack.

What stays the same, on purpose

  • The face, expression, eyes, hair and age.
  • Glasses, jewellery, hats, uniforms and every other detail they wore.
  • The framing and the people in the picture. Nothing is added, nothing is removed.

Restoration is AI-assisted. Small deviations can happen. If a face has changed or the result is unusable, we re-run it free. If it still fails, we refund that photo. We can't refund a successful restoration just because of taste. Your first purchase is covered by a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Questions people ask before their first photo

Is a phone photo really good enough?

For prints up to about 20 x 25 cm, a modern phone in daylight captures more detail than the print holds. For very large prints or archival work, a flatbed scan at 600 dpi is better, and it works the same way.

What if the crop is wrong?

You see the detected crop before you start and can drag the four corners yourself. If the picture is already a scan, Restore skips the crop.

Can I do a whole album?

Yes. Upload several phone photos at once, or a PDF or ZIP of scans; each is cropped and restored separately. Plans and the Memorial pack cover several photos.

Will the face still look like them?

Yes. The restoration keeps every face, expression, age and accessory exactly as in the original. It repairs damage and returns natural colour; it does not beautify, re-age or re-imagine anyone.

Do I need a subscription?

No. One photo costs $5, pay as you go. If you have a box of photos, a monthly plan from $9.99 is cheaper per photo, and credits you buy never expire.

Are my photos private?

Photos are private to your account, transferred and stored encrypted, never used to train any model and never shared. Originals are deleted automatically 30 days after a finished restoration; you can delete anything sooner.

What if the result is not right?
